      This article reviews the literature on the relatively new field of materials development for language learning and teaching. It reports the origins and development of the field and then reviews the literature on the evaluation, adaptation, production and exploitation of learning materials. It also reviews the literature, first, on a number of Cited by: Preschoolers develop their ability to comprehend and tell stories, become more skilled conversationalists, and begin to understand the mechanics of written language. These skills are best nurtured when embedded in activities and play that reflect children’s interests, initiative, and curiosity. Preschoolers are eager to learn early reading.

    Much of early writing literacy is the development of fine motor abilities in the fingers and hands. Playing while exercising fine motor skills, engages hand-eye coordination as well. Think about using tools like washable chunky crayons, markers, scissors, tweezers, tongs, chalk, paintbrushes, etc.   Language and literacy skills can develop in any language, and for the most part, they develop first in the child's home language. Supporting development of the home language helps prepare young children for learning English. Head Start and Early Head Start programs must promote language and literacy goals for all children that are age. The most significant development in the history of writing, since the first development of a script in about BC, is the move from a pictographic or syllabic system (characteristic of Sumerian, ancient Egyptian and Chinese) to a phonetic one, based on recording the spoken sound of a word. This change has one enormous potential.
